JUF Women's Board - Legos for Wounded Soldiers
Dear Women’s Board Members,
We are proud to launch this month's Women’s Board mitzvah project: raising funds to send LEGO sets to wounded IDF soldiers currently hospitalized.
LEGO building is widely used in rehabilitation to help injured soldiers recover hand strength and precision, rebuild coordination and visual-motor skills after eye or neurological injuries, and support brain recovery through focus, sequencing, and problem-solving. It also enables amputees and those relearning movement to practice controlled, repetitive motions in an achievable and motivating way, while providing a meaningful boost to morale during a long recovery.
In the spirit of this week's Torah portion Vayak'hel-Pekudei, which highlights the power of communal effort and dedicating our resources to a sacred mission, this project embodies those same values—uniting us to provide tangible support, hope, and strength to those who have given so much to protect Israel.
All donations will be sent through Dror For The Wounded to our contact for this project, Laura Cowan, the Israeli Judaica artist, and an IDF injured soldier liaison, who will purchase and distribute the LEGO sets directly to the soldiers in the hospital.
Thank you for your generosity, leadership, and continued commitment to our community and to the people of Israel!!!
